Model Love: Joan Smalls

Joan Smalls Joan Smalls Photobucket Joan Smalls Joan Smalls Joan Smalls Joan Smalls

I love Joan Smalls!

Currently the Number 1 model in the world according to models.com . She has worked for Gucci, Stella McCartney, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, Giambattista Valli, Chanel, Fendi, Calvin Klein among many many many other top designers. What I love most is the fact that she is recognised in the fashion industry for her hard work, poise and tenacity. She's been modelling since she was 19 but only blew up within the last two years. It goes to show that a lot can be said for patience and continued hard work!

I especially love her comment on diversity in the fashion industry -

"Some people think it's a challenge being diverse. You just have to remember who you are, where you're come from. And that's why you see me stomp and walk as hard as I can."

I think her comments are applicable to any industry, including mine! There are some things one cannot change, but as long as you do your best you can have that comfort that no one can question your handwork, drive or commitment! Its paid off for Joan right?

Audrey Hepburn Braids hair tutorial!

ALLISBELLE AUDREY HEPBURN

ALLISBELLE AUDREY HEPBURN

So I was filming a haul video and realised...hold up! My hair style reminds me of Audrey Hepburn's hair in Breakfast at Tiffany's so I of course decided to pause, take some pictures and record a tutorial on the look! I couldnt find anything to be my cigarette holder so I grabbed my mac lipliner haha.

Im also quite pleased with the makeup look too, so Im happy to do a tutorial if anyone is interested just let me know below. In the haul video I was filming I initially wore a dark lipstick by sleek called Mulberry, but of course Audrey Hepburn would probably never be caught dead in anything remotely goth so I went for my MAC nude lipstick in taupe instead.

I've been blogging, vlogging and instagramming like a maniac this week, the blogging bug finally bit me! I'd love to read your comments on this look, just let me know below or on my youtube channel! Video tutorial below! x

My Super Quick Everyday Foundation Routine!

allisbelle foundation routine

My foundation routine is probably the most requested beauty tutorial I've had since joining youtube. Its funny because it probably takes me all of five minutes to do my everyday makeup routine - Full face! Its never perfect but it serves me well! I like the natural look with a pop of colour during the week then I do a 'flawless' routine over the weekend.

Watch the video to see my everyday foundation tutorial and please let me know what you think:-)

You can see the products I used in the video but I'll list them again for reference:

Photobucket

Foundation: mac matchmaster in shade 8.5 - I'm thinking of trying something new - any suggestions?

Mascara: Soap and Glory thick and fast, I really like this mascara, it does the job but importantly its not clumpy! I missed out because boots had it on sale for £5 the other day and I spent too much time thinking about whether to get it or not... fail!

Blush: Sleek Trio of Reds in flame - I love sleek! The colour payoff of each of this is amazing! and you cant go wrong for £10.

Lip moisturiser: Vitamin E is great as a lip gloss, moisturiser etc. I love that I dont have to keep this on for a long time to feel its effects, and its great for preventing chapped lips... Thank me later

Sleek Face Contour Kit - Again, it does the job at an excellent price! It is also multi functional, I use the dark portion for contouring my cheeks but then also
to fill in my eye brows. I also use the highlight as eyeshadow sometimes.

Hope you liked the video!

Winter Fashion Trend! Kenzo Sweaters

Kenzo sweater

I've been noticing logo sweaters everywhere for a while now. They are comfortable, practical and can be very chic depending on how they are styled. The Kenzo ones are my current favourites! I love how Rihanna paired the Kenzo Eiffel Tower sweater with the short shorts and the chunky chloe sevinghy for opening ceremony boots!

At £170 the kenzo sweaters are a bit out of my budget for now so I'm consoling myself with my Topshop Geek Sweater as pictured below. I'll be styling these later when I make it outside over the weekend haha!

Dressing for Winter

Photobucket

I've been struggling with what to wear this winter. It's so cold I don't think about styling. I just fall into some ugg boots, pile on layers and layers of jumpers and brave the cold like an eskimo! I must confess, its not always the most attractive look lol.

Anyway this is an outfit I put together, I've been lusting after that valentino bag for ages and I've been stacking the pennies in my piggy bank to be able to purchase it when its available!

Outfit details:
Orange batwing jumper - Romwe

Black Resin Skinny Jeans - helmut lang

Kimmy Shoes - Monki

Snood - Topshop

The Box Braids are back - RED this time!

Photobucket

My Solange inspired box braids are back! As usual I get them done every January in Lagos as I never have time to do the braids myself lately. I love that its done really quickly - these took 3 and a bit hours! Absolutely remarkable! It takes me a whole day at least to finish mine!

I decided to go a with some red this time to brighten up my face. I didn't go too red though as that wouldn't suit my skin tone! What do you think about the colour?

Photobucket

I love how versatile braids are and they are excellent for helping to retain hair length! I had my last set of braids in for 5 months (with proper care - washing, conditioning etc) and they helped me grow out my hair long enough to be confident to cut off my heat damaged ends last year.

I loved those braids! My current ones are shorter and not as full as my old ones as you can see below.

I talk more about the hair in my youtube video below. Im warming to these new set of braids a lot more... what do you think? xoxo

Fashion Lust: Prada Baroque Glasses

Allisbelle

Allisbelle

The moment I laid eyes on the Prada Baroque glasses on Rihanna, I knew I JUST had to have them! The glasses are from Prada's S/S 2011 collection and come in a variety of frames including the graphic deluxe style in the second picture above. I adore the shape of the glasses as I have quite a round wide face shape so larger frames like these suit me very well!

The Para Baroque glasses have been a hit with celebrities for a while now but I'm convinced Rihanna probably has the most extensive collection! I was going to buy them last week on impulse but I should probably stick a few pennies in my piggy bank first and treat myself to them for my upcoming trip to Dubai!

What do you think about them? I prefer the round and rectangular ones Rihanna sports.

4B Hair Update: Annual Blowdry/ Length check

Hi Everyone!

As you probably know I don't blow dry my natural hair that often. Heat and I are not friends! I struggled with heat damage in 2011 hence why I almost shaved all my hair off late last year!

Anyhoooo, I blow dried my hair recently for the first time in over a year and thought I'd share the pictures as it also serves as my length check! The difference between my natural hair unstretched and heat stretched is vast! Don't you think?

Ignore my skin in the pictures above! I had a bit of a crazy night the night before!

New year in Lagos - Holiday time!

Happy New Year Everyone!

As I've been announcing all over twitter (@dellydoll) I've spent the past two weeks in Lagos on holiday. My time was spent hanging out with family, catching up with old friends and just generally having fun! I spent 15 years of my life there, and of course I am Nigerian so its always a pleasure to be home!

I didn't take that many pictures this time around but thought I'd share the ones I did take with you! Hope you had a great entry into the New Year. I have a good feeling about this year, I'll be posting some of my 2013 goals soon! xxx

The above was pretty much my standard night out look, was always too lazy to mess around with eye shadows, as usual, Ruby Woo never disappoints.
